Original Article

A combined pre- and intra-operative nomogram in evaluation of degrees of liver cirrhosis predicts post-hepatectomy liver failure: a multicenter prospective study
Bin-Yong Liang, Er-Lei Zhang, Jian Li, Xin Long, Wen-Qiang Wang, Bi-Xiang Zhang, Zhi-Wei Zhang, Yi-Fa Chen, Wan-Guang Zhang, Bin Mei, Zhen-Yu Xiao, Jin Gu, Zun-Yi Zhang, Shuai Xiang, Han-Hua Dong, Lei Zhang, Peng Zhu, Qi Cheng, Lin Chen, Zhan-Guo Zhang, Bin-Hao Zhang, Wei Dong, Xiao-Feng Liao, Tao Yin, Dong-De Wu, Bin Jiang, Yu-Feng Yuan, Zhong-Lin Zhang, Yao-Bing Chen, Kai-Yan Li, Wan Yee Lau, Xiao-Ping Chen, Zhi-Yong Huang
The multicenter prospective study demonstrated that either preoperative CSS or intra-operative DSM was closely correlated with histopathological stages of cirrhosis. Furthermore, high level of CSS or DSM indicated the risks of PHLF, and the nomograms including these two parameters can effectively predict PHLF.
Clinical and molecular heterogeneity associated with tumor sidedness in colorectal liver metastasis: a multicenter propensity cohort study
Yibin Wu, Jiamin Zhou, Huipeng Wang, Guojiu Fang, Weiping Zhu, Sanjun Cai, Lu Wang
The clinicopathological features, underlying molecular profiles, and drivers of left-sided colorectal liver metastasis differ from those of right-sided disease. Standardized, screening, diagnostic, and therapeutic strategies are required to optimize outcomes.
Physical activity decreases in patients on the liver transplant waiting list and influences postoperative outcome—a prospective cohort study
Christian T. J. Magyar, Lea Bühlmann, Chiara Becchetti, Lara Beekman, Daniel Candinas, Guido Beldi, Corina Kim-Fuchs, Annalisa Berzigotti, Vanessa Banz
Over time, there is a significant decrease of moderate physical activity (MPA) after week 40 on the wait list for liver transplantation (LT). Female patients and patients receiving nutritional support had an increase in MPA. Reduced MPA significantly associated with adverse outcome post-LT.
Evaluation of the economic impact of the robotic approach in major and postero-superior segment liver resections: a multicenter retrospective analysis
Sara Ingallinella, Francesco Ardito, Francesca Ratti, Rebecca Marino, Marco Catena, Agostino Maria De Rose, Francesco Razionale, Filippo Rumi, Americo Cicchetti, Felice Giuliante, Luca Aldrighetti
Despite higher intraoperative expenses compared to OLS, RLS demonstrated lower overall postoperative costs, supporting its potential cost-effectiveness. The evolving robotic marketplace is expected to reduce RLS costs, further contributing to its favorability. This emphasizes the need for ongoing evaluations of technological advancements and training programs.
Glutamatergic neurons in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus participate in the regulation of visceral pain induced by pancreatic cancer in mice
Ning-Ning Ji, Shuang Cao, Xing-Lei Song, Bei Pei, Chen-Yu Jin, Bi-Fa Fan, Hong Jiang, Ming Xia
Targeting glutamatergic neurons in the PVN effectively alleviates visceral pain in pancreatic cancer in mice, thereby presenting a novel target and treatment modality for the clinical management of pancreas-related pain.

Review Article

Molecular profiling and patient selection for the multimodal approaches for patients with resectable colorectal liver metastases
Raphael L. C. Araujo, Leonardo G. Fonseca, Raphael Oliveira Silva, Marcelo Moura Linhares, Pedro L. S. Uson Junior
Many clinical variables have guided patient selection and surgical timing for the treatment of resectable colorectal liver metastases, coactively using surgery and systemic treatment. This review explores forthcoming improvements in molecular and genetic profiling as promising tools for patient selection in a more tailored approach.
Insights from Seoul National University Hospital’s experience: a systematic review of pure laparoscopic donor hepatectomy progression
Suk Kyun Hong, YoungRok Choi, Nam-Joon Yi, Kwang-Woong Lee, Kyung-Suk Suh
The article highlights the progression of pure laparoscopic donor hepatectomy (PLDH) at Seoul National University Hospital, encompassing full right and left hepatectomies. It emphasizes the safety, feasibility, and expanded selection criteria for donors, leading to a shift from open surgery to pure laparoscopic procedures in donor hepatectomy and even in liver transplantation.
